INDIA VS ENGLAND TEST
It's as if all of India's nightmares have come tumbling down on them at once. All their possible anxieties have come to fruition. Today, in isolation, was a decent day. Still England's, but redeemable, all other things being equal. However, the fact that none of England's top-four failed to score a fifty marking their return to form coincided, and a volatile Indian bowling line-up failing to penetrate the English batting, certainly couldn't have come at a worse time for India. They are attempting to rewrite history, and they've simply ended up repeating it until now.
Joe Root has scored century #3 in this series, Malan has managed a fruitful return to Test cricket, and even though there was a flurry of wickets at the fag-end of the day for India, they're staring down the barrel with the lead at 345 and the conditions flattening out by the minute. After the English tail inevitably rolls over tomorrow, India will look to bat big - another challenge, given the torrid run of form their celebrated middle order has had. India need to swim against the tide to redeem themselves. Or pray really hard for the rain to come down. For now, this is Rishi Roy calling it a day alongside Abhinand, Akshay and Mukesh. And that was just Day 2. Cheerio!
